I grew up in a small town in the south in a time where life centered around community and home. My artistic mother taught me to sew and crochet and from her I learned an appreaction of design and color. As I helped my father care for our acreage of fields and pine woods, he fostered my appreciation of nature. Now I use those influences in my art as I explore nature photography and digital painting.

Art can be used to provide a contrast to the harsh realities of the world. In an era of constant bad news, we need beauty in our lives to provide needed moments of peace and serenity. The beauty of art is that it can mean different things to many people. It can be revelatory, thought-provoking, inspirational, sentimental, nostalgic. I believe that it can also be simple, true, and pure.
